Puncture Resistance

Using the Instron tensile testing machine 68TM-50kN, the puncture resistance of films can be determined. The puncture resistance is established by pushing a rod with a pear-shaped tip through the film at a specific speed. The force required for this is referred to as the puncture resistance. This property is very important in the film industry and provides an indication of the strength of the film.

The puncture resistance is typically conducted according to ASTM D5748.
