Heat Deflection Temperature
Using the Instron HV3S, the heat deflection temperature (HDT) can be determined. The HDT is the temperature at which a plastic begins to deform. It is determined by applying a specific pressure to the material, then heating the material at a certain rate. The HDT is the temperature at which the material bends by 0.2%.
